As the dueling song, "Bara no Rashin - Shura" begins to play, Utena kisses Anthy and pulls out the Sword of Dios - all done as shadows against a white background.
Shadows of Shiori and Juri also appear on the white background. They clasp hands briefly until Juri takes the sword and whirls around, charging, while Shiori reaches out for her.
The two duelists charge by each other and their swords spark from the collision. The shadow imagery suddenly fades into the real scene of the two dueling - but not on the platform high above the school. Instead, they are on a narrow beam in the midst of the school buildings.
The entire school watches the duel. Students lounge on the stairs, the grounds, on balconies and every other nook or cranny they can find. However, they all look pretty bored with the whole ordeal, as if they've seen it all before.
Utena goes for the offensive. Juri deflects each attack but is slowly pushed back. She does not return with an attack of her own.
Above, Miki watches the duel with wide eyes. He's never seen Juri pushed so hard before and wonders what kind of person Utena is.
Anthy watches from a doorway on the beam Juri and Utena are dueling on. She doesn't look too concerned yet.
Shiori also watches from nearby, in a relaxed position. However, after a brief moment, she stands up and suddenly walks off.
