As the battle progresses, Utena's 'sword' takes more and more damage. Eventually, part of it is sliced off, flying away and landing on another part of the dueling ground.
Utena struggles upright to face Saionji again. He realizes in shock that Utena is a woman, and she shouts that she won't loose to someone who hits his girlfriend.
Saionji launches his final attack, and Utena can do nothing but watch - until Anthy suddenly leaps between them, pushing Utena down to the second tier of the dueling grounds. "Anthy!?" Saionji yells.
As they fall down to the second tier, Anthy reaches out and kisses Utena (who blushes furiously.) As she does so, she is suddenly dressed as the Rose Bride, and the two land amongst the roses. Anthy tells her there can be no duel without a sword.
A white light glows around Anthy's breast as she summons the Sword of Dios. Saionji covers his eyes against the light, trying to see what is going on. Utena stares at the sword hilt for a moment in wonder before pulling it out.
As she raises the Sword of Dios to the sky, her hair suddenly falls down and becomes long and wavy, and she is dressed in her dueling uniform. She readies her final attack upon Saionji, who is mad but puts up a strong defense.
Utena attacks Saionji, and a spray of red rose petals shows that she is the victor. The bells ring in the background, signifying the end of the duel, as Saionji stands, shock written in his face. (But he deserved it, ;P) Utena's long hair flows in the breeze as she looks back.
