Meet the members of this hour-and-a-half drama. Who's who? Who's in the movie? Who isn't? What are various people doing? Tenjou Utena ~ The heroine of the story. She sports a short, boyish hair style. She arrives at Ohtori Academy with little clue of the true happenings of the school. She turns away from her past because it pains her greatly - her parents died when she was young, and her boyfriend, Touga, left her. She is the main player for the power to revolutionize the world, and as she does so, she begins to remember more of her past, and will discover what destiny lies in her future.

Himemiya Anthy ~ The second heroine of the story, sporting no glasses and much longer hair. As the Rose Bride, she has the ability to summon the Sword of Dios and has the power to bring about the world revolution. A free and easy-going girl, her many actions have many dire consequences that come back to hurt both her and Utena. Her own past is as haunted as Utena's, and comes to play an important role in the world revolution.

Kiryuu Touga ~ Utena's boyfriend, although he left her before the start of the movie. He comes to the school because the rose signet led him there, and he can often be seen lingering around the action, watching. He is still a playboy, as he flirts with Utena, Anthy, and Shiori - to the confusion of many heartstrings. However, his past is clouded by mystery and forgotten memories that must be put to rest.

Saionji Kyouichi ~ The rather grumpy and hot-headed duelist. He was the previous winner of the duels and thus was engaged to Anthy, although he treated her rather roughly. He's rather full of himself at points, never worrying about what may happen to him. He's also quite possessive of Anthy, whom he considers his trophy.

Arisugawa Juri ~ The leader of the fencing club and the most commanding person among Ohtori's student population, she is very popular and idealized by others. She wears a golden locket that is always closed, adding an air of mystery to her. However, she is fairly easy-going, flirting with Miki on several occasions. In the game of 'Prince' she is the winner, for her fencing skills are unmatched.

Kaoru Miki ~ The last member of the student council, and the last bearer of a rose signet. He's without his signature stopwatch, however. Miki is usually seen hanging out with Juri, and the two are good friends, although Juri often questions him. He is a bit lost and confused, trying to figure out his dreams and his hopes for the future while being trapped by the demands of his twin sister.

Shinohara Wakaba ~ One of Utena's friends. They meet when Wakaba introduces herself to Utena on Utena's first day of school, and Wakaba instantly takes her on a tour, explaining some of the things to Utena. However, their friendship does not take as deep a root as it does in the television series, for later Wakaba walks off with another student to work on a two-man project, leaving Utena to work with Anthy. However, she is still willing to help out a friend in need.

Takatsuki Shiori ~ Another student at Ohtori. Although she appears to be pretty and innocent, she really has many plots and secrets hidden under her sleeve. She mercilessly manipulates everyone for her own purposes - but why is she plotting revenge, and against whom? To what lengths will she go to keep Utena and Anthy from the World Revolution?

Ohtori Akio ~ The main villain of the story although not nearly as dark as television-Akio was. He's searching for the key to revolutionize the world, but has somehow misplaced it. He lays several hints throughout the movie that motive other characters to duel with Utena or to other actions. His past, his motives, his relation with his sister Anthy... everything around Akio is dark and twisted, and when the time comes, he will do anything in his power to fulfill his dream.

Shadow Girls ~ E-ko and F-ko are the shadow girls in the movie, showing up as shadows to reveal certain pieces of the plot. They are mostly outside of the story, for no character inside the story is really seen interacting with them for most of the movie. Their 'scandalous video' reveals the secret behind Anthy and Akio, and in the final race for the world revolution, they help guide Utena and Anthy.
