Overview:

Mochizuki Michiru was an average girl, a second year high school student at Keiyoh High. Her mother was away for work, leaving Michiru a latch-key kid, but she didn't mind. Recently, her alarm clock rang several hours before she set it, although it was probably better than being late.

On the way to class, Michiru passed by the Fairy Mart, walking past a strange (but handsome) fellow who was singing, "Piritto, paretto, poporeha pukaron..." Michiru thought it was strange, but didn't think too hard about it. In class, her best friend Takekawa Chiya invited her to a new cafe, Fun Fun Factory, after school. After all, it was Michiru's birthday... of which Michiru had totally forgotten! Chiya suggested it would be quite fun and there were some cute guys who also went there...

Upon arrival at the cafe, Michiru discovered the fellow singing the song earlier that day was the owner and chef, Kousaka Sonoo. He was quite nice, chatting amiably with Chiya and Michiru, and serving Michiru a special dish, "Magical Parfait" which had a certain ingredient, the Witch Berry... Michiru dug in, thinking it tasted quite good, and remembered the strange song Sonoo had been singing... "Piritto, paretto..." She got a strange feeling.. what had happened? Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.. Shaking the feeling off, Michiru waved goodbye to Chiya and headed home.

"Piritto, paretto, poporeha pukaron..." She couldn't get the song out of her head. All of a sudden, cake started falling out of the sky onto her! What's worse, a humongous wedding cake starting spiralling, sendig Michiru running. Realizing the song and the strange feeling after eating the parfait might be related to the falling cake, she ran back to Fun Fun Factory to talk with Sonoo. There wasn't much for him to do but explain there were others who had eaten the "Curse A La Mode" dish with Star Grapes, and if she found those people (10 in all) perhaps she could break the curse. As an apology, he also gave Michiru a bag of cookies, congratulating her on her birthday. Somewhat mollified, Michiru went back home, and was reading an email from her mom when she started singing the song again. Another cake fell on her head, with the words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" written on it...

Now Michiru has to find the 10 people who ate the Star Grapes and break the curse... or dare falling cake where ever she turns!

Personal View

FFF is one of my favorite manga series. It's cute and fluffy. It's got romance. Comedy. Action. Magic. The whole harem concept (in this case, one girl, 10 guys.) Cats! And lots and lots of sugary sweets! The falling cake, the silly song...this series just screams shoujo, and should appeal to a wide range of shoujo fans. There is a deeper, and somewhat darker story running in the background, which doesn't become apparant until the latter volumes, and is slowly introduced, so there is substance behind all the confection, and the last panel of the story really finishes things off with a laugh.
