Step 6 Officer Hiyama tells Yuusuke that he wants to see the list of missing persons that Yuusuke's father gave to him. Makoto intervenes, saying it's not right that he can go barging into people's homes like this, and Hiyama twists Makoto's arm around. He says it's strange why people would want to go to the past, and Yuusuke smiles, asking "And what about you?" Hiyama smiles too and then Momoka yells at Hiyama. At this point, Makoto's mom shows up with cake. She blinks as she sees all the strange people in the foyer. Yuusuke quickly starts to go upstairs, Hiyama just blinks, Makoto temporizes... and then his mother says, "What should I do? I only bought enough cake for 3 people..." (Everyone falls over.) They apparently make up some story that Hiyama is the kendo teacher and Makoto's mother sits in the kitchen with a cup of tea looking confused. Upstairs, the four discuss the things as they stand. Finally Makoto says he'll help if only for the sake of his future son. They go back to the park and Yuusuke and Hiyama bring out their time machines. Momoka and Makoto are given some new clothing because apparently in 2016 there is a great cosplay boom and they don't want to stick out. They head to the future and go to Takada's home to find Takada, one of the people on Yuusuke's list. When they arrive, Takada is being accosted by some toughs so Yuusuke, Makoto, and Hiyama fight them off. Takada is surprised to see Hiyama there. The door to the house opens and a woman looks out. Hiyama mistakes her for his wife, Mari (also on the list) but it is actually Akemi, Takada's wife. A little girl also runs out and greets Hiyama; it is Kanon, his daughter. Hiyama asks where Mari is, and Takada is about to answer when Momoka realizes that Makoto is gone! Makoto got stuffed in the trunk of a car during the previous fight. He kicks at the trunk lock and luckily it pops open... but then Makoto has no idea where he's been brought to. He starts crawling around the attic when he hears some people talking about a wedding ceremony. He continues crawling around when he falls through the ceiling and lands in front of another woman, whom he recognizes as Mari. Makoto introduces himself but doesn't get too far when he has to hide because an elderly woman (Akemi's mother) shows up. She talks to Mari about the upcoming wedding, apparently not realizing that she isn't talking to her daughter. When the woman goes away, Mari finds Makoto again and tells him about what's happening. Apparently Akemi is not engaged to Takada but to someone else, and that unless Mari intervenes she'll never be born! Makoto tells her that Hiyami is coming for her, but she says she has to stay and help her mother. Makoto has no idea of what to do now... Step 7 Yuusuke, Momoka, Hiyama, and old-Takada are searching through the city when they find young-Takada. Makoto implores Mari to return to her time, but she says she can't, because of Kanon (who isn't with her.) Makoto sighs and says he understands. He gets up and walks out of the room, running into a couple of toughs, who instantly gag him and tie him up. In a cafe, old-Takada explains to the others why he's come to the past. Later they go out and find young-Takada again. Young-Takada tries to run away, but Hiyama (after apologizing to his father-in-law) knocks out Young-Takada and slings him over his shoulder. When Young-Takada wakes up, he stares in shock at his kidnappers. They talk to him about Akemi, and he is worried about her, but.. Old-Takada smacks Young-Takada and asks him if he really loves his girlfriend. Young- Takada says he does, but with the marriage coming up, it's impossible... Old-Takada complains he is too weak and that he's going to go and make Akemi happy. Meanwhile Yuusuke gives Young-Takada some food for thought... The four go back to the Takada house to meet with Akemi and Kanon. Old-Takada asks if Akemi is happy and she says she has chosen the one she loves, and that she is happy. It is the day of the wedding and Mari is all dressed up. Akemi's mother says that Akemi is so beautiful, and Mari protests that she isn't Akemi, but Akemi's mother ignores her. Later Mari unties Makoto, who wants to know if Mari is okay with the wedding. She smiles and tells him not to worry, and Makoto wonders what Yuusuke is doing during all of this. Momoka asks Yuusuke where he thinks Makoto is, and Yuusuke answers that he's probably with Mari, since the thugs they were fighting went back to Akemi's house. Makoto tries to sneak off but he gets caught and tied up again. At the church, Mari is dressed up as the bride, making both Old-Takada and Hiyama blush furiously. The ceremony begins and Old-Takada watches the door. When it's Mari's turn to say "I do," she pauses and Hiyama is about to get up and protest when Young- Takada bursts through the doors saying "Stop the ceremony!" He runs up to Mari and says, "Let's go, Akemi!" And realizes several seconds later that it's not Akemi he's talking to... Mari pushes him off, when Akemi and Kanon appear. Young-Takada hugs Akemi and Kanon runs to her mother. Young-Takada turns to Akemi's mother and asks if they can get married. The mother says that as long as Akemi is happy.. Everyone is happy too until they realize that Makoto was never found.. They go to pick up Makoto (who is still tied and gagged) and Makoto demands to know what's going on (and yells at Yuusuke for not coming earlier.) They explain everything to him and Makoto is glad everything turned out alright. Finally, they all get ready to return to their own times... in Tama-Pyo, who is almost overburdened. (Makoto complains that Hiyama has his own time machine, but he says he wants to return with his wife and daughter.) Step 8 It's another school day and Ayako runs down the halls to find Makoto. She then complains that Makoto is being so mean for not leting her meet with Yuusuke again. Makoto is annoyed because it's ruining his "love life" with Ayako. He suddenly asks if Ayako wants to go on a date on Sunday, and Ayako asks, "Really?" Makoto is pleased until she suggests going on a double date with Yuusuke. She turns to Momoka and says that she should come too, while Makoto rages in the background. He figures he just won't tell Yuusuke (not hard since the only way for Yuusuke to know is to show up on his own.) They meet at the water park, and Makoto is happy for 3 seconds until Momoka shows up and Ayako, wondering where Yuusuke is, says she might go back home. Makoto tries to get her to stay but it's Momoka with her "Let's see the dolphin show!" take keeps Ayako from leaving. The three of them go through the water park but Makoto sighs because he wanted to be on a date with Ayako. A little boy runs into Ayako, and Makoto demands he apologize, but the boy is being bratty. He then says he came from the future in a time machine, leaving Makoto and the others to wonder if he's also on Yuusuke's list. The three of them decided to help out this Takashi until they can figure out what else to do with him. Takashi demands a lot of attention from the three and ends up getting some popcorn, soda, and ice cream off of them. They start getting suspicious and then the boy tells them he was lying. Makoto and Momoka get angry and Takashi runs and hides behind Ayako, who defends him. Takashi suddenly sees something and grabs Makoto and Ayako and runs off with them, leaving Momoka confused. Makoto and Ayako start acting like older siblings but when Makoto suggests telling the police, Takashi says he doesn't want to go back home because his parents are mean and always getting into fights. Makoto pauses remember the fights his own parents have been getting into lately. He smiles and then says that he and Ayako will pretend to be Takashi's parents today and they go through the water park again. Momoka finally catches up with them and with her are Takashi's parents, who have been worried sick. Takashi doesn't want to return with them at first, saying he likes Makoto and Ayako as parents more, but when his mother hugs him and tells him how worried they have been, he starts to cry and hug her back. Makoto, Momoka, and Ayako smile as the three go home together. As Makoto, Momoka and Ayako walk home, Ayako says she's revised her opinion of Makoto. Makoto is very happy about this but doesn't get a chance to reply as Yuusuke shows up just then. Ayako sparkles at Yuusuke, but pauses and turns to Makoto, saying, "Thank you for today," before running after Yuusuke. Makoto turns bright red and is determined not to give in. Step 9 Yuusuke thanks Makoto, Momoka, and Ayako for their help. He tells them that Fujita and Hiyama are back and happy, and that Hiyama personally thanked Yuusuke for their help (or else Mari and Kanon would never shut up about it.) He doesn't tell them that his father and Kataoka are still looking for a few of the people, but bows and thanks them one more time for all their work. Ayako asks if this means Yuusuke won't be coming anymore. Yuusuke agrees, saying there's no more need for him in the past. Ayako throws herself at Yuusuke, saying she can't stand it if she can't meet with with Yuusuke anymore, surprising Yuusuke and the others. Ayako says she wants to be with Yuusuke, but then Makoto yells that it's not possible. When Ayako wants to know why, he says it's because Yuusuke is from the future, and when he realizes Ayako doesn't understand what that means, he says that Yuusuke might be their grandchild. Ayako's reaction is to shout "I hate your guts, Makoto!" Makoto freezes. Ayako runs off. Momoka chides Makoto for saying such an awful thing and Makoto asks what was he supposed to say. Momoka kicks Makoto and runs off as well. Momoka runs through the streets, cursing Makoto in her mind. Then she thinks, "What if Yuusuke is Makoto and my grandson?" She pauses when she realizes that she has a crush on Makoto, and then wonders why she didn't realize these feelings before. Yuusuke pulls Makoto along and when Makoto asks where they are going, he replies "To find who out your future bride is, of course." After a quick time travel trip, they arrive at a street corner, and a young Ayako runs by them. Makoto is confused when he also sees a young Momoka running up to talk with young-Ayako. Makoto grabs Yuusuke and demands to know why they are in the PAST of all places. Yuusuke says that they came here to find Makoto's most important memory. They watch young-Makoto meet up with young-Ayako and young-Momoka, when another child shows up and shoves young-Ayako. Young-Makoto gets mad and fights the other boy until their parents intervene. Later, they watch as young-Makoto goes to the park with a wooden practice sword and starts doing exercises to become stronger. Makoto gets up and tells Yuusuke to return, since he remembers what happened. Yuusuke insists that Makoto doesn't know what he's talking about, and young-Makoto realizes there are people watching him and challenges them to a fight. Of course, Makoto and Yuusuke are a lot bigger than young-Makoto and hold him off easily. Young-Makoto isn't easily defeated but Yuusuke then says that they'll help him and that Makoto is really strong. Young-Makoto is impressed and the two are drafted into training young-Makoto... Step 10 Makoto and Yuusuke are in the park. Yuusuke is sitting on a bench watching Makoto train young-Makoto, who is trying very hard and failing miserably. Makoto, meanwhile, seems to be annoyed and bored with the whole ordeal, wondering how he could have acted like that when he was little, when young-Makoto says that he decided he loved Ayako and that he wanted to be her protecting knight. Makoto sighs as he remembers Ayako's words, "I hate your guts, Makoto!" Makoto turns away and says learning swordplay isn't going to help in love, but young-Makoto says that he's lying, and that he really loves Ayako. Makoto turns around in surprise only to get smacked on the forehead by young-Makoto's attack, which stuns him. Makoto remembers the outcome of the fight with the other boy - he won and Ayako and Momoka were happy and congratulated him. When he wakes up he realizes he's back at home. He also realizes his parents are fighting again, but when he goes downstairs he hears his mother slap his father and then she runs to him, asking if he'll go with her to England. Later that night, Makoto walks to the park thinking about England. He meets Momoka there, who apologizes about the things she said earlier. Ayako also arrives and Makoto thanks her for coming. The three of them once buried a time capsule under one of the trees in the park. They go and dig it up and find some childhood treasures - Makoto finds an old toy car, Ayako finds the doll she made with her mother, and Momoka finds a set of Sentai trading cards. They also find letters. Makoto opens his and reads "I want to be married to Ayako-chan." He smiles and remembers young-Makoto declaring his love for Ayako to him. He turns to Ayako and says "Ever since I was a kid I knew I loved you." Ayako is stunned and starts to reply, but Makoto continues that she doesn't have to say anything. He says he knows she thinks Yuusuke is really cool but that he hopes it's okay if he still loves her. He thanks Ayako, and Momoka watches him sadly. Momoka pats him on the back and says it's rather easy to give up, isn't it? He turns and looks at her and asks if she's also given up, and she smiles at him and says yes. They decided to rebury the capsule and come back to it 10 years later. They wonder who will be married, if they'll forget, or if the three of them will still be together. But the three of them look to the future and know they will not forget. Makoto has packed his bags and is waiting for the taxi when Yuusuke shows up and asks him if this is really okay. Makoto says it'll be fine, that he'll come back in three years and meet up with everyone again. He holds out his hand and tells Yuusuke that he's glad he's Yuusuke's grandfather, and that they'll meet again in 37 years. Yuusuke smiles and says he'll be looking forward to it. They shake hands and Yuusuke thanks Makoto. Yuusuke watches the taxi leave and turns back to his dad, asking if it'll really be okay. His dad smiles and says to trust Makoto and that there is no need to worry. Yuusuke smiles and agrees. In the taxi, Makoto's mother gives him two letters from Momoka and Ayako. He recognizes them as being the letters from the 10-year-old time capsule. Both of them say that they hope to be together forever. Makoto pauses and then yells at the taxi driver to stop the car. He runs out and tells his mother that he cannot go to England. Makoto thinks to himself that there is the past and the future, but he has to live in the present. He runs back to the house where Momoka and Ayako are waiting. Inside the house, Yuusuke and his father are eating a meal (prepared by Kataoka), much to Makoto's surprise. He grins and winks, greeting his grandpa. Makoto demands "Don't call me gramps!" Step This is a short extra story. A little boy (Yuusuke's father) tries to walk but falls flat on his face. Makoto tells him not to cry and picks him up. Momoka and Ayako smile at him, and then look up at the tree where they buried the time capsule. Suddenly they hear a voice calling "Makoto-gramps!" Yuusuke appears and apologizes for being late, then grins at his father as a child. They dig out the time capsule. Someone says that "From the past to the future, that was the important day we sent the message." This page and its contents (c)2000-2003 Ming-Ling.
